CR&R provides Street Sweeping Services to the City of Hemet twice per month.

In compliance with the City’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit, the City of Hemet Public Works Department routinely cleans and maintains the city’s storm drains. A street sweeping program assists the City in complying with the requirements of the NPDES Permit by removing pollutants, debris and sediments on the City streets which otherwise might enter the storm drain system. The City of Hemet storm drain system is not connected to the sanitary sewer system or a treatment plant Water entering the storm drain system goes directly to our creeks, rivers and lakes-water bodies we use for fishing, swimming, and drinking water. You can help to keep our waters clean by not leaving trash, yard waste, or leaves in the street and/or gutters. Leaves and other yard waste should be placed inside your green waste cart for collection and recycling. Street sweepers WILL NOT collect piles of green waste or leaves left in the gutter!

You should also be aware that allowing runoff from private property which contains soaps, degreasers, motor oil and other automotive fluids, lawn and garden chemicals (herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers), paint, pet waste, swimming pool fitter backwash, and other household wastes to enter the storm drain system is a violation of the City of Hemet Stormwater Ordinance. Don’t allow these pollutants to enter the storm drain system! Also, consider using biodegradable and environmentally-friendly products for outdoor cleaning and landscape maintenance.
